Advent Season for Children and Youth

Advent Season for Children and Youth

by Jennifer Welch

As we enter into this advent season, I hope you will take a look at these opportunities and events we have planned for families at City Church.

Advent Family Devotional

We are offering a devotional book, Prepare Him Room by Marty Machowski, for every family at City Church. This family devotional will reinforce the advent themed lessons children will hear throughout the month of December in City Kids, and guide families to build Christmas traditions centered around Christ.

Advent Curriculum in City Kids

Each Sunday, children will learn to view the Christmas story in light of God’s larger plan of salvation as we look forward to his second advent. Children will experience lessons focused on God’s redemptive plan, the saving work of Jesus on the cross and the anticipation of his return.

Parents Night Out - December 1st

Join us on Saturday, December 1st from 5:30-8:30 PM for a Parents Night Out. We hope you will take this opportunity to spend a night out while your kids have fun with their City Church friends eating pizza, enjoying Christmas themed games and crafts, and ending the night with a movie. Register your children here.

City Youth Service Project - December 2nd

City Youth is partnering with Kids Meals' for their adopt-a-family Christmas program. You can sign up here to purchase gifts for families in need, and bring them to Big Brothers Big Sisters (1003 Washington) at 5 PM to wrap the gifts and make Christmas cards. Dinner will be provided.

City Kids Concert - December 9th

We are excited to have Joy Hanna put on a special Christmas concert for children in pre-k through 5th grade. Kids will start the morning off in the children’s area, and experience a morning of Christmas worship, crafts and cookies. Invite your friends and family to join this fun-filled morning!

City Youth Christmas Party - December 9th

Students will wrap up the semester with our annual white elephant Christmas party on December 9th from 6:30-8 PM at 3739 Bellefontaine. Each student should bring a white elephant gift ranging from $5 to $10. Dinner will be provided.

Children’s Song Performance - December 16th

We are inviting children to perform a song in the worship service, and we hope your kids will participate! Joy Hanna is working with the kids to learn “O Come Let Us Adore Him” during City Kids each Sunday leading up to their performance. More details will be sent out soon.
