Back-to-school with City Kids

by Jennifer Welch

As the fall season is drawing near, I want you all to know the City Church staff is praying for you and your kids as they get ready to go back to school. I hope you will keep these City Kids events in mind as you prepare your family for this next school year.

YES Prep School Supplies Drive

This year we will be helping out students and teachers at YES Prep Southside by collecting school supplies. As you do your own back to school shopping, please consider picking up a few items from the lists linked below. Supplies can be dropped off on August 19 & 26 in the Music Hall or Bronze Peacock Room. Check out this supply list or you can place an order straight from this Amazon list.

Promotion Sunday

Sunday, August 19, will serve as our promotion Sunday, so all children will move up to their current grade level for this upcoming school year. We will also resume our 4th-5th class on this Sunday. 4th-5th graders will continue to meet in the private dining room of the House of Blues Restaurant and will come back into the service for communion each week.

City Kids Parent Breakfast + Meeting

Each year around this time, we gather families together for a time of community, breakfast and a quick meeting to hear more about the upcoming ministry year in City Kids. Join us at 9:45 AM in the Bronze Peacock to connect with friends and celebrate what the Lord is doing at City Church. The nursery will be open for drop-off at this time and all children are welcome to attend. You can read more about this event on August 26 here.

Fall Kick-off Bowling + Worship

Children (K4-5th) will have a chance to bowl at Lucky Strike, worship and grow together through large and small group times on Sunday, September 9. This will be a fun-filled morning to invite friends to come check out City Church and kick-off the fall season. Children should being a pair of socks and can be dropped off and picked up in the Bronze Peacock.

It is such a blessing to serve the Lord through City Kids, and I hope you will join me in praying for our Children’s Ministry team leaders for this next school year. Looking forward to seeing you all at these upcoming events to kick-off the new ministry year at City Church!
