One of my favorite things that happens at City Church is our musical theater camp. For me, the summer camp is a great opportunity to invite people to have a glimpse of the gospel message through art as showcased by kids. Bringing beauty to broken places happens even in the crazy imperfections of a children's musical production.
Many in my neighborhood are sending their kids to this camp, some for the third time. A few of them have other church homes and others do not go to church at all, and I love that all of these families get to experience a bit of the gospel community we are building here at City Church.
I encourage you to take the time, even if you won’t be participating in the camp, to spread the word about it to neighbors, coworkers, and others who cross your path in daily life. We never know what a small seed planted in the heart of a child will yield.
This year the theme is, Not Your Average Joe, and will be based on the story of Joseph. Kids will do crafts, have snacks, learn about the story of Joseph and how it ties to Jesus, all while also putting together the musical. The camp is $75 and runs 9 a.m. to noon from Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14, with a performance on Friday at 11 a.m. You can sign up kids (rising kindergarten through sixth grade) here and also sign up to volunteer here. If you have questions, you can contact Jennifer Welch.
