City Youth: A look ahead

City Youth: A look ahead

by Jennifer Welch

As we move into the final stretch of the school year and transition to the summertime, I want to share our City Youth plans with you.

  • BIBLE STUDY | Join us for our last four Bible study gatherings as we finish our study on the beatitudes. We will have our regular meetings on April 8, 15 and 22, and will end with a service project on April 29. This will be an opportunity to put together care packages for survivors of human trafficking through The Landing.

  • CITY KIDS PNO SERVICE PROJECT | Students can volunteer to help out at our first ever City Kids Parent's Night Out on April 21 from 5:45 - 9:15 PM. This event will happen at the Big Brothers Big Sisters' facility, and will involve setting up and tearing down, serving pizza and playing games with the kids.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS SOCIAL | All middle school girls are invited to meet up at the Mad Potter in Bellaire on Saturday, April 28, from 9:30 - 11 AM. This will be a fun opportunity to get to know each other better and paint pottery!

  • END OF YEAR PARTY | We will end the school year with an end of the year party at an escape room on May 6. Look out for more details to come!

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP | Join us June 4 - 8 for RYM Texas and we head to Allaso Ranch for full week of fun! There will be lots of activities at the camp, including a lazy river, swimming, basketball/volleyball courts, hiking, kayaking and fishing. Registration is now open, and you can find more information about this camp on the RYM website.

  • HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP | We hope you will join us June 11 - 16 for our first summer trip to Colorado through Reformed Youth Ministries! We'll be spending the week at YMCA of the Rockies at Estes Park for a week of hiking and hanging out in the Rocky Mountains. There will be many different activities available for students to participate in at the camp including swimming, yoga, sports, hiking and fishing. Registration is now open, and you can find more information about this camp on the RYM website.

  • SUMMER SERVICE OPPORTUNITY | During the week of July 16 - 20, students can volunteer to serve at the City Kids Musical Theater Camp from 9 AM to noon each day. Youth volunteers will be placed with an age group for the week, and will accompany the kids to each rotation (music, drama, etc.) throughout the day.

Throughout the rest of the summer, City Youth leaders will be available to reach out to students in town to meet up for casual gatherings.
