Open-Handed Living

Open-Handed Living

by Leo Schuster

When do you find another person's character most attractive? Isn't it when you see them give of themselves freely to care for others? Our new series will explore this open-handed lifestyle born of the Christian Gospel. When we're transformed by the radical kindness of God for us in Christ, it will spill over into our entire life. The apostle Paul says, "You are not your own; you were bought with a price" (1 Cor. 6:19–20). Because we are saved through Jesus' self-giving, we no longer live as if we own ourselves or our things. Our lives and our things now are for God and our neighbor. If those beliefs are in place and the new motivations are growing, generosity will touch pretty much every area of life, not just the financial. It will lead us out into life as comprehensively generous people. Not only will this kind of open-handed life honor God, it'll be attractive to the outside world. As Jesus teaches, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).

Join us for this new series beginning Sunday, November 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the House of Blues, and invite others.
