This week in City Kids

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn why Jesus is called the Lamb of God. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn about how God spoke to Samuel. 4th-5th graders will learn about how Rebekah and Jacob tricked Isaac into blessing Jacob. God showed that His plan was to continue the covenant through Jacob’s family and eventually a whole nation, leading to the birth of Jesus—the promised Savior.

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn that God is always in control. Joseph was left for dead by his brothers, but later Joseph rescued them—as God had planned. Jesus was killed by those he came to save, but his death provided a rescue for them—as God had planned. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn that God fought for His people and led them into the Promised Land. Just as the Lord defeated the enemies of the Israelites, Jesus defeats His enemies and leads believers into the promised land of eternity. 4th-5th graders will learn that God’s covenant with Abraham continued to the next generation. Esau sold his birthright, giving Jacob the right to the wonderful blessings God promised to his father Abraham. Through Jacob’s family, God would send the promised Savior to bring blessing and salvation to the world.

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn that God often sets his love on and does amazing things through people who are not loved, not wanted, not attractive, and not popular — just like Leah and just like Jesus. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn that being with God changed Moses from the inside out. People could see how God changed Moses, because Moses’ face glowed! Spending time with Jesus changes us today, too. 4th-5th graders will learn that God provided Rebekah as a wife for Isaac as part of His covenant to bless the whole world through Abraham’s family. One day, Jesus would be born into Abraham’s family as the promised Savior.

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn that God promised to give Abraham a very big family and promised that he would rescue his people through Abraham’s family. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn that God provided manna from heaven for his people’s physical hunger, and later He provided His Son, Jesus, for our spiritual hunger. The Israelites needed bread to live for a little while, but whoever has Jesus will live forever! 4th-5th graders will learn that Abraham showed his love for God by being willing to sacrifice his son Isaac. God provided a ram instead. This is how God showed His love for us: He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross so that we could have eternal life through Him.

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn that God promised to bless all the world through Abraham. God sent Jesus from His home in heaven to be born on earth into Abraham’s family. Through Jesus, all the nations of the earth are blessed because Jesus saves people from their sins. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn the good news is that God shows grace. Even when the Israelites had a bad attitude, God helped them. The word of grace is proclaimed from every page of the Bible and ultimately revealed in Jesus Christ. 4th-5th graders will learn that God promised to bless all the world through Abraham. God sent Jesus from His home in heaven to be born on earth into Abraham’s family. Through Jesus, all the nations of the earth are blessed because Jesus saves people from their sins.

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn that in the story of the Tower of Babel, God knew, however high the people reached, however hard they tried, people could never get back to heaven by themselves. People didn’t need a staircase; they needed a rescuer, Jesus. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn how by his grace, God spared the Israelites from judgment by requiring the blood of a lamb. Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. His death was the ultimate sacrifice, and those who trust in Christ are under His saving blood and will be passed over in the final judgment. 4th-5th graders will see how Job learned that God is all-powerful, sovereign, and good. When we face suffering, we can hope in God. God sent Jesus, the only truly innocent one, to suffer and die so that everyone who trusts in Him can have forgiveness and eternal life.

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn that God promised never again to send a flood to destroy the world. But in the same way that God rescued Noah and his family, God promises he will send a Rescuer to rescue us. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn how God saved Moses’ life and called him to rescue God’s people from slavery. The calling of Moses points to a greater calling and rescue—the call of Jesus to come to earth to save God’s people. 4th-5th graders will learn that people chose to give glory to themselves instead of God at the tower of Babel. One day, Jesus will gather together all of God’s people— people from every tribe and people who speak all kinds of languages—and they will worship Him together.

This Sunday, children in the nursery will learn that God makes a promise to Adam and Eve. God promises he will battle the snake, and get rid of sin, and his people will never be sad or lonely or sick or afraid ever again. God will mend our relationship with him, so that we can be with him forever. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn that God promised to bless all the world through Abraham. God sent Jesus from His home in heaven to be born on earth into Abraham’s family. Through Jesus, all the nations of the earth are blessed because Jesus saves people from their sins. 4th-5th graders will learn that God rescued Noah and his family from the flood. The story of Noah points ahead to a greater rescue. God’s Son, Jesus—the only perfectly righteous One—came to take the punishment for our sin. By trusting in Him, we are saved from the punishment our sin deserves.

This Sunday, our nursery kids will learn that God the Father, Jesus—God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit created everything together. Children in Pre-K through 3rd will learn through the story of the tower of Babel that God is the greatest, and we don’t need to be. The people didn’t need a staircase; they needed a rescuer, Jesus. 4th-5th graders will learn that our sin separates us from God, but God still loves us. God promised a Rescuer would come from Eve’s family. God sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue people from sin and bring them back to God.

This Sunday, we launched into a new ministry year with new curriculum in each age group. Here you will find a short description of each new curriculum, and what your children learned in City Kids.
